Last July 22-25 and July 30-August 1, 2014, the DREAM Program implemented Data Processing, Data Validation, and Flood Modeling Training for State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) as well as Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across the Philippines, tasked with processing LiDAR data for the different regions.
Each SUC and HEI will be performing data processing, data validation, and flood modeling activities for specific regions in the Philippines assigned to them within the project period of 3 years, from 2014 to 2016 under Phil LiDAR 1 headed by Program Leader Enrico C. Paringit, Dr.Eng. and Phil LiDAR 2 led by Program Leader Ariel C. Blanco, Dr.Eng. This entails using ARCGIS software in generating Digital Surface Models (DSMs) and Digital Terrain Models (DTMs) from classified LiDAR point cloud data specifically ArcMap, mosaicking, and integrating field bathymetric data to LiDAR DTM using ArcMap as well. The training also focused on LAStools for resource assessment with Dr. Martin Isenburg, Certified LAStools Expert and Chief Executive Officer of rapidlasso.
A total of 15 SUCs and HEIs completed the DREAM LiDAR Data Processes training, namely:
