The overall theme of the 2017 National LiDAR Conference is "On the Cutting Edge: Geospatial Technology at the Forefront of Disaster Risk Reduction and Natural Resource Management in the Philippines".
In the Philippines, LiDAR technology among others, has been emerging as a reliable and versatile development in the generation of disaster risk reduction and natural resource management tools. As there have been many accomplishments in this field of remote-sensing, it is high time to shed light on what are the information and benefits available to the public. As climate change continues to become an increasing reality in the Philippines, innovative remote-sensing applications on floods, landslide events, and other related disasters are necessary for action towards protecting lives and preventing damages to property.
In other fields, the advancements in LiDAR surveying for renewable energy, agricultural mapping, hydrologic datasets for watersheds, aquatic and forest resources extraction are expanding and contain valuable information for the use of different sectors. Through the technical sessions, the 2017 National LiDAR Conference will optimally utilize the useful data on up-to-date applications and research on LiDAR technology among others, as it can lead to the formulation of new knowledge, serve as basis for policy-making and amendments, as well as improve the operations of government agencies, private sector, and civil society alike as they interact within the Philippine environment. The theme was chosen to open new views in remote-sensing technology where highly accurate spatial information, systems, and processes are put to effective use for the Filipino public.
Please feel free to submit an abstract on any topic related to the 2017 National LiDAR Conference. Sub-themes of the conference include:
